Our offshore project is powered by harnessing the powerful and consistent winds at sea. Curonian Nord will capture this relentless energy source, producing clean, abundant electricity.

Offshore wind is much more efficient and reliable for generating electricity compared to onshore wind. At sea, the wind is not obstructed by natural barriers such as trees, mountains or buildings. This makes electricity generation more efficient and reliable. Offshore wind is an especially reliable energy source as green electricity can be generated even when wind speed on the shore seems low.
Efficient
Offshore wind turbines are more efficient as they can harness the stronger winds at sea. Each installed megawatt of an offshore wind farm produces up to twice as much electricity as a megawatt of an onshore wind farm, and about three times more than solar power plants of the same capacity.
Stable
Sea winds are an extremely reliable source of energy. When wind farms are located at a high altitude out at sea, they are able to harness the faster, more stable winds that are common to such environments. This allows them to generate electricity 90% of the time, even when the sea looks calm inland.
Silently powerful
Wind turbines at sea also have less visual impact. They are far away from people, so you can’t hear the sound they make. As a result, the installed capacity of offshore wind farms can be much higher than on landand reach hundreds of megawatts.
